Apple’s Passwords app makes it easy to replace your existing password manager

Apple’s Passwords app debuted this fall as a new password management solution for Apple devices. It also, helpfully, makes getting started very easy thanks to a key feature in the macOS version.

Moving on from third-party password managers

There are a wide range of users Apple Passwords is targeting. Some will be brand new to password management tools, while others are already using another service like 1Password or LastPass.

Apple to stop selling iPhone SE and iPhone 14 in Europe as USB-C deadline hits – 9to5Mac

Apple to stop selling iPhone SE and iPhone 14 in Europe as USB-C deadline hits – 9to5Mac

As reported by iGeneration, Apple will stop selling the iPhone SE and the iPhone 14series at the end of the year, as the USB-C universal charging connector deadline comes into effect.

Right now, the oldest phones still sold directly through Apple are the third-generation iPhone SE, the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus. As these phones feature a Lightning port, they are in violation of the European Union policy, which goes into effect starting January 2025.

Apple could have elected to make a new version of these devices with USB-C ports instead of Lightning, but they have not done so. Instead, the company has decided to simply discontinue these models slightly earlier than they otherwise would.

TikTok ban: Apple must remove it from the App Store next month – 9to5Mac

TikTok ban: Apple must remove it from the App Store next month – 9to5Mac

As TikTok’s ban in the United States swiftly approaches, lawmakers on Friday reminded Apple that they are on the hook for enforcement.

TikTok ban: The latest news

As a refresher, President Biden signed the TikTok divest-or-ban bill in April. The bill didn’t explicitly ban TikTok but gave China-linked parent company ByteDance nice months to sell TikTok. That timeline expires next month, at which point TikTok will be banned in the United States starting January 19. The law was upheld in court last week.

The law results from concerns about TikTok and ByteDance potentially being a national security threat in the United States.

Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta donates $1m to Trump fund

Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta donates $1m to Trump fund

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has donated $1m (£786,000) to an inauguration fund for President-elect Donald Trump.

The tech giant’s boss, Mark Zuckerberg, dined with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in November, having sought to repair his and his firm’s relationship with Trump following the election.

Trump has previously been highly critical of Mr Zuckerberg and Facebook – calling the platform ”anti-Trump” in 2017.

Meta is not believed to have made similar donations to President Joe Biden’s inaugural fund in 2020 or to Trump’s previous inaugural fund in 2016.
