At Trump’s Cabinet meeting, flattery is flavor of the day | Reuters
They came to praise President Donald Trump, not focus on the controversies engulfing him.One by one, Trump’s Cabinet members assembled around the table spoke effusively about the president as he sat beaming, soaking it all in at the first formal gathering of his most senior officials at the White House on Monday. The lavishing of praise and adulation contrasted with the storm enveloping the president as he struggles with myriad crises, including an investigation into possible ties between his election campaign and Russian meddling in the race. For him, the meeting was a welcome rendering of what he feels are major accomplishments ignored by his detractors, even though major legislative achievements have eluded him thus far. There was no one more gushing than White House chief of staff Reince Priebus, who is frequently the target of criticism from long-time Trump advisers and is often see as just one misstep away from being ousted, even though rumors of his departure have all proved to be premature.

tvOS 11 Will Add Automatic AirPod Pairing and Dark Mode Activation Plus Home Screen Syncing MacStories
The Apple TVs stage time at WWDC was limited to an announcement by Tim Cook that Amazon Prime Video will introduce an app to Apples streaming television-connected box later this year. Although they didnt receive stage time during Apples WWDC keynote, Zac Hall at 9to5Mac discovered that Apples first beta of tvOS 11 includes a handful of additional features that look like they could come in handy. The first tvOS 11 beta includes automatic pairing of AirPods to Apple TVs. When you pair AirPods with an iPhone, the settings are currently propagated across other iOS devices and Macs that are signed into the same iCloud account. That means you only have to pair AirPods once and then you can easily connect with other devices and Macs. However, Apple TVs were left out of the original implementation of this feature, whoch required them to be manually paired each time someone wanted to use AirPods with an Apple TV. tvOS 11 promises to eliminate those extra pairing steps by automatically pairing with Apple TVs on the same iCloud account too.

Daring Fireball: The 2017 iPad Pros
Ive spent the last week using a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro, and this is, in many ways, the easiest product review Ive ever written. There are several significant improvements to the hardware, and no tradeoffs or downsides. There is no but.DISPLAY: The new iPad Pros have the best displays of any computer Ive ever seen. True Tone plus ProMotion is simply terrific. (The first generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro didnt have True Tone; with these new models, the only noticeable difference between the 12.9- and 10.5-inch models is the size.) You really do have to see the 120 Hz refresh rate in person and play with it while scrolling content on screen to get it. You can actually read text as its moving during a scroll. Its not as significant as the jump from non-retina to retina, but its in that ballpark.

U.S. Cyberweapons, Used Against Iran and North Korea, Are a Disappointment Against ISIS – The New York Times
WASHINGTON Americas fast-growing ranks of secret cyberwarriors have in recent years blown up nuclear centrifuges in Iran and turned to computer code and electronic warfare to sabotage North Koreas missile launches, with mixed results. But since they began training their arsenal of cyberweapons on a more elusive target, internet use by the Islamic State, the results have been a consistent disappointment, American officials say. The effectiveness of the nations arsenal of cyberweapons hit its limits, they have discovered, against an enemy that exploits the internet largely to recruit, spread propaganda and use encrypted communications, all of whoch can be quickly reconstituted after American mission teams freeze their computers or manipulate their data.It has been more than a year since the Pentagon announced that it was opening a new line of combat against the Islamic State, directing Cyber Command, then six years old, to mount computer-network attacks. The mission was clear: Disrupt the ability of the Islamic State to spread its message, attract new adherents, pay fighters and circulate orders from commanders.
