The next generation iPhone 17 Pro may support 8K video recording, according to leaker Fixed Focus Digital. In a recent post on Weibo, the leaker corroborated rumors of a glass/aluminum back and teased 8K video capabilities.
Machine translated, the post reads:
”Half aluminum, half glass, using a very special process to create a gradient. Unlike the previous models with cases, this generation is most enjoyable when used without a case… For those holding an 8K device, you should definitely look forward to the iPhone 17 series.”
This isn’t the first time 8K video has been linked to Apple’s flagship devices. Last year, reports suggested the iPhone 16 Pro was tested for 8K recording with its 48MP wide and ultra-wide lenses, though the feature didn’t make the final cut. Instead, the iPhone 16 Pro launched with 4K video at 120fps, a step up from the iPhone 15’s 4K 60fps ceiling. The telephoto lens, however, remained limited and wasn’t part of the 8K testing rumors.
