Ten people were killed and more than 30 injured after a man intentionally drove a truck into a crowd in the US city of New Orleans in the early hours of New Year’s Day, authorities said.
City officials said the attack, which took place on Bourbon Street in the city’s historic French Quarter as revelers gathered to celebrate New Year’s Eve, was deliberate.
The attacker was identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, a US citizen from Texas. The FBI said he carried the flag of the Islamic State militant group in his car along with possible homemade improvised explosive devices.
